Rockstar Games’ iconic Grand Theft Auto: Vice City  coming on both iOS and Android this holiday, and with the release date just days away now, Rockstar has done what it so frequently does, and released some screenshots.

The snaps shows us what the title will look like on the iPad, and – as promised – the visuals have been dragged right into this decade. In its day, Vice City was aesthetically sound, but in an era where a tablet can really churn out a plausible simulation of high-end gaming, Rockstar has done a stellar job in refining everything for that Retina display, and the previously released trailer also proves that.

Grand Theft Auto III dropped last year to celebrate ten years of epic action, and Rockstar Games will be hoping Vice City can make just as much of an impact as the original title did when it released back in 2002. The arsenal improved, the multitude of vehicles broke from the car-and-truck combo, and as a long time Vice City fan, I cannot wait to get back on that motorbike on my mobile device.

It’s scheduled to arrive this Friday 6th December, and will cost $4.99 for the two major mobile operating systems. We certainly cannot wait for the title to drop, and will notify you accordingly when it’s available for download. Android titles are notorious for delays, and ironically, the last game I can remember running significantly behind schedule (and, behind the iOS release), was Max Payne – Rockstar’s very own export.

The release of Vice City for mobile is a big deal on its own, but there’s little denying it’s merely an appetizer for the main event – the Spring release of Grand Theft Auto V. From the teaser clips and images we’ve been seeing over the past year, it’s going to be a cut above anything previously seen from the series, and if it plays as smoothly as it looks, GTA fans are going to be in for a real treat; with both titles.
