Developer Yingpei Games has just announced a great-looking first-person shooter called Mercenary Ops. The game, which bears more than a passing resemblance to Resident Evil 4, will be powered by the Unreal Engine and is expected out by the end of the month. Check out the trailer and screenshots below.
Mercenary Ops puts you in the shoes of an investigator looking into a biological crisis in a small town in Europe (*cough*Resident Evil 4*cough*). Yinpei Games promises eight levels and three bosses in the game's story mode, as well as an endless survival mode that keeps upping the difficulty until you die.
The developer was formerly known as Epic Games China, so they have some triple-A cred to their name. And judging from the screenshots and trailer, the game looks great.
One thing has us slightly worried, however. Mercenary Ops will use what the press release called an "innovative one-finger control style," which is unusual for a first-person shooter on iOS. However, we'll withhold judgement until we get our hands on the game.
Though multiplayer options are not mentioned in the Mercenary Ops press release, we assume some of the social elements intrinsic to M.A.R.S. will make the journey across to iOS devices intact.
We do know that we can expect eight levels, three bosses, and two different game modes, mind. However, we'll have to wait until the month is out before we can sample Mercenary Ops's infected wares for ourselves.
We will keep you updated.
