Apple annouceed it has figured out the reason of the poor battery life of iPhone 4S was due to the iOS 5 bugs, and it promised would update the iOS software to fix it. Immediately, iOS 5.0.1 beta with the improvement of the isuue is now released to developers.
"A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices," Apple said in a statement to AllThingsD. "We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks."

Earlier today Apple released a beta of iOS 5.0.1 along with iTunes 10.5.1 to developers
iOS 5.0.1 beta contains improvements and other bug fixes including:
● Fixes bugs affecting battery life
● Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
● Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
● Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation
● Contains security improvements
