Recently, Pod2g tweeted that his upcoming iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak works fine with the iPad 1 and the iPad 2. He had also posted an FAQ about the ETA, progress and compatibility of the jailbreak. And now, to help us know better, he’s posted a list of devices that work with the new jailbreak and those that have yet to be tested.
Pod2g had already mentioned that the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak will not work on the Apple TV 3, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3rd gen and below. To make things clearer, below is a list of devices that have been confirmed to be working with the jailbreak:
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4S
- iPad 1
- iPad 2 WiFi
- The New iPad WiFi (iPad 3)
Now, as you can conjure from the above list, Pod2g hasn’t tested the jailbreak on all iOS devices. Here’s a list of devices that haven’t been tested yet, but will be soon:
- iPod Touch 4th Gen
- iPad 2 GSM
- iPad 2 CDMA
- iPad 2 WiFi, R2
- iPad 3 CDMA
- iPad 3 Global
- AppleTV 2
There are still a lot of iOS devices to test, so expect the release to happen in a few weeks, nothing sooner. It is also possible that Pod2g may reveal the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak at the HITB SecConf in Amsterdam. However, we still have to wait a while before the jailbreak is released. iPhone 3GS, AppleTV 3 and iPod Touch 3rd gen users are out of luck here, it’s best you stick to the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak. We’ll keep you updated with the latest jailbreak news.
