Now you can save SHSH blobs for iOS 5.1 public release using TinyUmbrella 5.10.08. TinyUmbrella is updated by Notcom and brought to version 5.10.09, which brings support for 5.1 on the New iPad all versions (commonly iPad 3) and Apple TV 3. Backup of the iOS 5.1 SHSH blobs is very important at this is the first firmware for the new iPad.

As noted by Notcom about The Firmware Umbrella on his blog post:

TinyUmbrella now has support for saving 5.1 SHSH for Apple TV 3 and the iPad 3 (all versions). As of now we still cannot restore them but we are working on getting that working from a bunch of angles. I’ll let you know more when I do.

Why Saving SHSH blobs is Important?

The new iPad comes with a Build 9B176 for iOS 5.1 and if you are a jailbreaker, you should save your SHSH blobs now, as there are already four exploits discovered to jailbreak iOS 5.1 on New iPad. Due to this, Apple might plan to push an updated firmware to find and close those exploits. Once upgraded, you will not be able to restore or downgrade your New iPad to iOS 5.1 firmware.

The only way to downgrade to any older firmware is using the saved SHSH blobs of that firmware (currently iOS 5.1) using TinyUmbrella. That’s the reason, why saving your device’s SHSH blobs is so important. You might not know, just the jailbreaks, there may be some unlock solution hidden in the hands of developers or jailbreakers.
