The iPhone Dev-Team have just tweeted about a new blog post on their official website. Discussed in this blog post is the new iPad, referred by the iPhone Dev-Team as the iPad 3, Jailbreak status. By the looks of it things are looking pretty good for an iPad 3 Jailbreak as they have mentioned the method used to Jailbreak the iPad 2 4 months ago still works in iOS 5.1. Additionally, to top things off, both i0n1c and an unknown individual close to the Cydia repo scene seem to posses workable exploits.
You can take a look at the information shared by the iPhone Dev-Team in the quoted area below.
- We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad2 4 months ago still works even in 5.1. That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the new iPad. That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story.
- Those of you following @i0n1c may have noticed he’s already tweeted pictures of his iPad2 jailbroken at 5.1. As far as we know, he’s using a method completely unrelated to the one mentioned above. That would be great news!
- We’ve also seen bits and pieces of an entirely different jailbreak method being investigated by someone close to the Cydia repo scene.
This is some great news for all of those purchasing the new iPad! Although the news is good however, this does not mean anything will be released within the coming weeks. It could be months before we actually see a stable Jailbreak released. Regardless, at this point it is too early to get into such fine details about the new iPad Jailbreak, just remember – Do not update to a future iOS version than the version shipped with your new iPad if you plan on Jailbreaking.
We will keep you updated!
