Although China is not well-developed, but there are millions of Apple fans out of there, China could be the largest iPhone market in the world, and now Apple’s iPhone 4S has become a serious smuggling problem in China. iPhone 4S is selling cheaper in Hong Kong compare to China, due to tax charging and the different of currency exchange. Smugglers try to make a quick buck buying the phone in Hong Kong and re-sell it in China. But they are frequently busted trying to illegally sneak the smartphone into the mainland. The Luohu Port of Shenzhen, is the immigration control point of entry where authorities have been battling increasingly inventive methods of smartphone smuggling. About 250-thousand travelers pass through here everyday. Since the beginning of the year, over 3,000 phones have been seized, in a total of 231 cases. From the video footage, we can see a man attempts to pass through customs with 30 iPhones tied to his waist and ankles. Customs officials noticed something was amiss when the man couldn’t bend down to pick up his suitcase. There are some other pretty clever tricks like hiding stainless steel plates inside the shoe soles, where there are four iPhones stuffed inside.
