We heard some weird reports over the weekend that the 3G Motorola Xoom tablet couldn't be sold unless you bought at least one month of wireless data. That, plus the groan-inducing $800 MSRP, is surely giving some potential buyers a wee bit of pause.

LG must be pretty proud of their upcoming tablet, as their new promo video doesn’t hold back their distaste from the current “fruity” leader in the tablet market. Expected to make its official debut at Mobile World Congress next week, the Optimus Pad will soon go toe to toe with the competition. The video ad shows that LG is ready to take on that challenge.
The Motorola Xoom isn’t even available yet, and we’re already hearing about upcoming variants that are on the way. Recently a silver version of the tablet was found in the wild and now there are confirmations of WiFi-only and GSM versions.
Here is a YouTube video (Below the article) demonstrating how an iPad belonging to a fellow employee handled being run over by the front and rear wheels of a Chrysler PT Cruiser. As the video shows, the iPad was in the standard Apple Case and the front glass was crushed quite extensively. However, the Home button still worked and the rest of the components in the display were totally functional. The touchscreen still responded to gestures, and the accelerometer responded by rotating the screen.
The popular BBC iPlayer service has finally made its way to the iPad, and is now available for free on the UK iTunes App Store. BBC iPlayer allows you to watch live TV from the BBC television station in addition to live radio broadcasts from the network. You can even select your “favorite” programs and these episodes will be “ready and waiting for you to watch.” We assume this means you will get an alert when a new episode is about to air, or it will be somehow saved for you to watch.
Daring Fireball made mention of an iPad 3 due in the Fall in a post this afternoon. No details just a date and a season. TechCrunch’s MG Sigler quickly jumped on it saying they had heard something coming in the fall too. Keep in mind that there are zero details, just phantom dates on a calendar.
At last, the webOS-empowered TouchPad, HP's answer to the growing tablet market. And make no mistake, it's coming in with guns blazing -- specs-wise, the slate stands up pretty well to the competition currently in play (e.g. iPad) and the other up-and-comers not quite out the gate (e.g. Motorola Xoom and BlackBerry PlayBook).
By now, you know how HP's new slate compares to the crowd -- now, see how it looks up close and personal. We just got our hands on that dual-core Palm webOS tablet here in San Francisco, and it's a beaut, with a slim black profile that highlights the brilliant 9.7-inch screen.

We've got very little information here, but Dell's just announced that it's planning to bring a 10-inch Windows 7 tablet to market later this year. According to the press release, it will be aimed at commercial and enterprise markets. Sound familiar? Yep, it sounds like a HP Slate in the making, but let's hope this one is faster and sticks to its shipping schedule. We've got no other details for now, but we're hoping to dig up more at the "Dell Means Business" event, which should be starting any moment now. Stay tuned...
The launch of the first iPad-only newspaper wasn’t the only big news coming out of today’s press event for News Corp’s new title The Daily. Scribes present report a real, live, working version of the iPad 2 spotted on the scene.
The iPad-only magazine The Daily made its debut Tuesday, minus one important ingredient—the ability to subscribe through the iTunes store. That’s supposed to arrive with iOS 4.3, which is still in the beta stage.
OK, this is a rumor and we’re taking it with a grain of salt, but it could happen. Sources are claiming that Apple is planning a media event for next week to introduce iOS 4.3—and the next generation iPad.
Looks like Apple rolled out a new neat little feature in the iPad App Store: search filters. When you browse the App Store from your iPad (mine is running iOS 4.3 beta, but I guess the change is live for everyone) and start searching for an app, five filters will appear under the top bar: category, release date, rating, price and device. Filters can be adjusted from a popover, and there’s also a button to clear all filters.
